End In Sight


While I've taken more notes over the last couple weeks, it would take an hour to reformat for a devlog here, and what you really want is for me to release this game. So I'll omit the details and give you the status report.

I've added basically every major aspect to the game I had in mind, and debugged while playing from start to finish. The game "Is Done," on the one hand. On the other, a few more pieces needed to fall into place for me to feel like it's completely ready to publish. It needs to be seamless & consistent in its style and presentation to a new player. As well as not require bug fixes or updates later.

To get there I added or tweaked a half a dozen or so features, and now I'm feeling pretty good about where things are. I can play the game start-finish in 10-15 mins. My estimate is that it would take about 15-30 on a first playthru. And only 30 if you're really, really bad at PacMan!! (Hey, not all of us grew up with arcade rooms in pizza shacks). I can't believe how far this has come, hopefully it will provide some entertainment to those who find it in the future.

Some features have been scrapped, even though I'd like to implement them, in order for me to finish. This is a free game. It should only go so far – I'll be saving the creative energy for bigger projects to come.

Here's what I have left: finalize music (mainly the end boss battle & win music), fix small items noted in playtesting, and reduce the file size of the final build.
